Who's That Peeking in My Window?

We're coming up on the last few days to get those Halloween cards made!  Many of mine are arriving on rather wet doorsteps -- to many of my family and friends in the wake of this horrific storm!!  We are keeping you in our prayers -- particularly overnight when it's hard to stay calm and get a nice, peaceful rest.  Stay safe.

In the meantime -- take a look-see at this latest CASE'd card.  I have since colored in these freakish ghoulies and added a few googly eyes for effect.  But it was a fabulously fun card to assemble!  It's still available in the Holiday catalog, and I've made so many different types of cards with this single set.  I just love it -- as do my boys!  Any time I can get them crafting is a great day indeed!

For this creation, I used the 1 1/4" square punch, and used the postage stamp punch for the border edge and window edges.  The spider web was dry embossed, and everything is raised up with strategically placed dimensionals.  I used Lucky Limeade twine for the drop-in spider (ain't he cute?).

So I'm going to be switching gears after Halloween to some degree.  I still have cards to make for various events, but I'm going to work on some quilting projects for Christmas gifts.  I am looking forward to sharing those with you soon!

Flippin' for Halloween

Today's card was inspired by Dawn Griffin.  I am getting more confident taking someone's idea as inspiration, but then changing it up to make it my own!  

This is another one of the cards I thought I'd do with the Enrichment class.  But after making several of them with my kids, I think that the assembly would have been too difficult for them.  Stamping, punching, and detailing are all definitely up their alley though!

So here's the front of the card, closed up. I used the spider from the Googly Ghouls stamp set, and the color sets were Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White.  I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder on the black half--with the bumpy side down.  I liked how that mimicked the black polka dot ribbon and details around the spider.

Here is the inside of the card -- the flippin' part.  Just a simple silver brad holds it all together!  The sentiment is from Wacky Wishes -- a hostess set.  Of course you can contact me to find out how you can get your very own!

Going Batty

Today was card making night with my boys.  They have not really done any stamping, so tonight was learning the basics (don't cram the stamp into the ink pad), clean-as-you-go (so you don't put an elbow into the ink pad), punching and embossing (watch those fingers!).  They actually did a fair job in making bows, but they needed to use the entire roll of ribbon to do so!

All in all, they had fun, didn't lose patience, and proved to me that I chose the right type of cards for their age group to teach at school.

This was their first card - they daubed the basic gray CS with classic black ink with a circle to mask the moon.  Then they practiced stamping bats (from Googlie Ghoulies) on the basic gray CS and on the whisper white inside liner, and stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the page in craft white.  They assembled the layers on the basic black CS, then added googly eyes (their favorite part--as they're already sticky on the back!).  They opted not to do the white accent lines--and it looks great!
